Auditions for the 2022-2023 Windham Chamber Singers will take place beginning May 23, 2022
Students wishing to audition should click here

If you are not currently attending a school in RSU 14, please e-mail Dr. Nickerson to let him know that you would like to audition
rnickerson@grsu14.org

Auditions will be in person and must be scheduled in advance.
All students must be enrolled at Windham High School or registered as home-schooled students residing in Windham or Raymond.
All students must be enrolled in Concert Choir.
There is nothing musical to prepare ahead of time

Before auditioning, make sure that you are able to make the commitment.  Chamber Singers rehearses every Wednesday from 4-7pm and has a very demanding performance schedule.
What to expect at the audition...

Each student will be assessed on the following:
Range
You will be asked to sing scales ascending and descending on a specific vowel
Tone Quality
Just be yourself.  Avoid trying to sound like someone else.
Intonation
This is, simply, how well you sing in tune
Versatility
You might be asked to make some simple adjustments with dynamics or articulation
Rote Singing
You will be asked to sing back melodic patterns.  Each pattern will only be played once and they will get progressively more difficult.
Sight Reading
You will be given a printed musical example and the first pitch.  You should sing the example until you are asked to stop.

Each student will be given a score for the above.
Also, each student will be given a 4 digit number.  This is how you are identified through the audition process.  When the roster for next year's group is posted, it will be a list of numbers NOT a list of names.  You and Dr. Nickerson are the only ones who know your number.
